Making Women Exist in Photos Again

Making Women Exist in Photos Again

EVB Sport was built with the goal of restoring women’s confidence: whether you’re post-natal, pre-menopausal or mid pelvic health issue, we’re all about supporting you. So when we meet like-minded individuals, such as Jill O’Meara, we always welcome them with open arms into our EVB Sport community.

Last month we met Jill, a professional photographer whose aim is to ensure that “women exist in photos again” by restoring their confidence and giving them a professional photo shoot experience. I was so inspired by Jill at the recent Meath Women in Business event – I have to say, I don’t know how she did it but it was the first time I didn’t cringe when I saw myself in her photos.

So to celebrate Mother’s Day we’ve asked Jill to spread a bit of her magic to our lovely EVB Sport ladies – and she’s very kindly offered you all a special €50 discount too.

Here’s Jill on what she does, why she does it, and how you can get your hands on a new-found confidence (and that €50 discount!):

“For over 8 years I have photographed Ireland’s best known celebrities for the Irish magazines. Time and time again, I noticed that even the most well-known TV personalities didn’t enjoy these photo shoots. So I began teaching them how to pose – I could see their confidence increasing and they began to absolutely love the experience, and with that their portraits started to actually show the best version of themselves. I realised I had a gift for bringing out the best in anyone I photographed.

I’ve photographed Mary Byrne four times over the last six years. In November 2017 she asked me to take the below photos for her, they appeared in both the RTE Guide and RSVP Magazine. She looks so confident in the “after” photos – she told me she doesn’t want anyone else photographing her!

All of 2017 I worked very hard creating a portfolio of my vision and created my magazine to showcase my mission which is: “I want women to exist in photos again”. I want to create photos that show the best version of them, and I can do this by building their confidence,  providing hair, makeup and styling consultation, and showing them how to pose like models. I want them to experience what it is like to be a celebrity for a day, I want them to have one day that’s all about them.

I am so proud of what I have achieved so far. I’m passionate, driven and I get so excited just thinking of what I can create when a client contacts me for the first time.

I have photographed brides for over 10 years, and on the wedding day the bride is full of confidence and loving the camera – but I’ve noticed that the mother-of-the-groom and mother-of-the-bride are super shy and are definitely not loving the camera – I understand why.

Once women get married and the children come along, the mother becomes the one behind the camera: photographing the children’s milestones, the family holidays - bit by bit she doesn't exist in photos anymore.

When is the last time you were photographed professionally? Your school photos, maybe your wedding day? I want to change this and provide an exceptional portrait service to women. When is the right time to be photographed? NOW, as you are. As a photographer I’ve heard all of the excuses, especially “I need to lose weight”. You are perfect now.

The way I move and sculpt your body you can look 20 pounds lighter just by posing correctly. My hair and makeover team are professional standard. The pre-shoot consultation will help you to plan what to wear. You can do the shoot on your own, with your mum, sister, daughter, or with your partner and children. We can do a three generation portrait and create legacy portraits that will be cherished by the family.

It’s an incredible experience and you’re going to float out of the studio looking and feeling absolutely amazing. Make a plan to have afternoon tea, or dinner and drinks afterward, to complete to day.

It’s a life changing experience. Let me change the way you see yourself.

I want you, just this once, to put one day away for yourself – let me capture the best version of you.

It’s time to celebrate you.

I am so in love with my women portraits work. Have a look at Theresa’s photo shoot, the behind the scenes experience, her photo reveal and after interview. I think it gives you a great insight into what I deliver to my clients, and the wonderful impact it has on them.
